Joachim Haupt studied Modern German Literature, Modern History and Sociology in Mainz, Geneva and Munich. In 1993, he had his directorial debut with a documentary on the underground techno scene in Berlin. Since 1996, he has been working together with Sabine Pollmeier. Their films include: Die Schoenheit der Transparenz (1996), Die Farben: Schwarz (1997), Eine Karriere in Hollywood (1997), Fette Beats und schnelle Reime (1999), HipHop de Luxe (2001), and Peppers and Nudes - The Photographer Edward Weston (2004), Carl Djerassi - My Life (2009), and Up to the Sky (2009).
